About Us
We are House of Guac
We at HoG are just a bunch of adventurous people who took a leap of faith. We saw the potential in you. We saw the potential in Bhilai. We noticed how your taste buds were secretly wishing for an upgrade. House of Guac was founded on love. Garvita’s love for those fat, delicious burritos paired with crunchy tortilla chips dunked in Guac and hot salsa. She craved Mexican food oh-so-much, unfortunately, to no avail. What you seek is what you get. Just when we were about to give up on finding Mexican food here in Bhilai, we found avocados! We turned those avocados into Guacamole. Only to realise, our guac was lonely without the tortilla chips. We turned to store bought tortilla chips (we won’t drop any names here for chip-shaming) and they didn’t make the cut to be even touched by the “Holy Guacamoley” we created. So we made our own chips. Then we realised - why stop there?! We decided to make quesadillas to pair with our chips and guac. We tried the store bought tortillas, they didn’t make the cut either. We didn’t like to see artificial ingredients that we couldn’t pronounce or understand. So we made our own tortillas. Then we realised - why stop there?! We said let’s make a bowl! It was certainly a significant step up from quesadillas- only needed to make 8 more things to create a bowl! After scouring the internet for the ingredients needed (and to be able to only score half of them), it was officially time for Garvita to put on the chef’s hat and get creative with what she had. She made her very first batch of the makeshift tofu marinado bowl, and gave it to the one person who despises tomatoes, prefers meat over anything else, and doesn’t eat spicy food! Because if that dude could love the bowl, there wasn’t much standing in our way. And guess what? We received paragraphs (yes, multiple!) of loving feedback about the bowl. It was then, in that very moment, House of Guac was actually, truly, born. Up until then it was just an idea. Now it was real. It took a few more batches, taste testing and modifications, to nail it down. And we’ve been working hard everyday since that day towards bringing House of Guac to life and into every household. The idea was simple - why would you go to other fast food joints and spend a similar amount of money for fried, junk food when you could have a significantly healthier option that you can customise to your liking? Execution was hard. But we did it! For you. For Bhilai. If we were ever going to bring authentic Mexican cuisine to India, why not start here in Bhilai? Let’s be known for the steel plant AND the birth place for House of Guac!!
